Bristol Chess Congress

12th Steve Boniface Memorial Congress 2018

​The Memorial Congress was held at Bristol Grammar School August 24th-26th.

 

98 players competed in the three sections over the bank holiday weekend, 10 more compared to last year. As in June Congress, Open was the busiest Section.

 

Tom Thorpe, an ex BGS pupil was the arbiter on this occasion.

FIDE rated Open

​

Graham J Moore won the FIDE rated Open Section with five straight wins! In total 43 players competed.

Major

​

1st place with 4 points was won by Tim F Woodward.

Minor

​

32 players competed in the Minor Section along with a stack of junior players which is very encouraging.  Jonathan Gould won outright first place with excellent result of 4.5/5.
